SACRAMENT OF THE SICK & BEREAVED

Mass of Anointing

We have a Mass of Anointing several times a year at St Paul’s Church.  This is for all who feel in need of healing in any way, whether it be physical, spiritual or emotional. Fr Sean is also available to administer the Sacrament of the Sick to people in their homes for those who are extremely ill.

Bereavement

At times of loss it’s always helpful to know there are people around who are able to help, comfort and support.  Here, in the parish of St Colman with St Paul, we want to stretch out that hand of friendship.  Planning the funeral of a loved one is obviously one of the most painful things we’ll have to do in life.  We want to get things right but we may not know the way to go about it or what is required.

It is important for you to know you won’t have to do this alone, the priest will be there to help in every way.   It is also comforting to know that many people in the parish will be praying for you and your family and for the repose of the soul of the one you love.

When someone dies the Funeral Director contacts Fr Sean to arrange a date for the funeral.  He will then contact the next of kin, or relative who is arranging the funeral, to arrange a meeting to discuss the service.

Book of Remembrance

A Book of Remembrance is displayed at the back of St Colman’s Church.  This lists the names of those who have died from our parish over the years and  is updated annually at the end of October.

Bereavement Mass and Lunch

Fr Joe celebrates a Mass each November in St Colman’s Church for the relatives and friends of all those recently bereaved and all others who wish to come along and support them.  Mass is followed by lunch in the hall.
